In this time of disruption we want to keep the future mobility & rail innovation community buzzing so we're recording 10 minute podcasts with people from across the innovation landscape. This week we met were joined by Hayden Sutherland, Founder & Chair of Open Transport Initiative who was in London to attend the Transport Ticketing Global event. Johannah & Liam were joined by David Watts of CCD Design & Ergonomics for our Christmas Special episode to discuss disruption, information & comparisons to airlines! What a paradox we have between what the railway is trying to do versus what the passenger wants it to do. Does the passenger want to be chaperoned or trusted? How does the mobility industry communicate a sense of control back to the passenger?

In this episode Johannah & Liam are joined by Max De Lucia of sonic branding agency, DLMDD. We discuss how sound & voice are integral to building a connection with consumers. In a transport context, this can assist with a sense of place, wayfinding & putting passengers at ease.

This week Johannah & I travelled to Madrid to speak at the SmartMetro conference. We presented on why (open) data is key to enabling MaaS & the future of Urban Mobility. Catch up with the team on the train journey back from Madrid!

Johannah & Liam attended the Railway Industry Annual Conference in London. We discussed the need for diversity of skills and experience, as well as the challenge for exporters in the uncertain trading settlement. 

We had lovely chats conference attendees as well as RIA's Chief Executive, Darren Caplan, and Managing Director of Fuel, Steve Tolton.

 

In this episode Liam travelled to Vienna to meet Milda Manomaityte, Founding Director of the Global AirRail Alliance to understand how operators advertise their service offer, and how these short links can support sustainable surface access to airports. We also discuss how airport express services have sought to differentiate their service offer by cultivating relationships with airport operators and seeking to offer enhanced services.

Back after a short break, Johannah & Liam are joined by Deb Carson (rail & public sector professional) to discuss the relationship between access to transport and economic opportunities. We cover rural transport, bus subsidies, major investment & research into the effects of transport access.
